The Great Puzzle – Jules Shear
Once aga
in I have forgotten my final des
tination after chasing i
t down too
many suns
So tonig
ht you and I bring desperation t
o this highway, and we’re not the only
ones
Outside
a stillness that could o
nly be summer and we are Mendici
no bound
Feeling
out of place as the ship
that keeps on forward long after it’s run
aground
And I’m
thinking ahead too much, but what are we then, when we’re not th
inking
at all
I’ve got
so many loose ends, dragging behind me, mysteries that
want to be
solved
CHORUS:
Like a m
aze where you could take a thousand paths, Like
all the questions
that it does no good to ask
Some mig
ht accept it, some might complai
n, It’s a great puzzle,
but you’ve
gotta like games
Like a c
andle that’s been recently blown
out, I can still smell
the smoke
>From a
chance turned to missed opportun
ity, my latest enemy of hope
A gamble
r knows exactly how much you giv
e away with a smile and it’s rea
l
But I on
ly gamble on myself thes
e days, I prefer the way it feels
And I’m
thinking aloud too much, giving too much up, I can’t wait to se
e the
world as it is
And have
a whole perception turn from ruins to exception, with the one t
iny
detail I miss
CHORUS
ADD:
You’ve gotta like games,
and working them through
Figuring out why some win and so
me lose, and whe
re does that leave me and you
I’ve met
coal miners who hate coal, thieves who hate what they stole, and they
think they’ve figured it out
Rich men
who sleep preserved in warmth, who can’t be hurt by any storm,
And they
think they know what life is about
But it’s
a maze where you could take a thousand paths I
t’s all the questions
that it does no good to ask
Some mig
ht reject it, some go insane
It’s a g
reat puzzle, but you’ve gotta like game
s, It’s a great puzzle, but
you’ve gotta like g
ames
